apparently this popup message is unique to macintosh; it has been reported as an issue by several people, but I don't yet see a fix...someone did note that installing the code does work, but it is very large...

may be time to switch over to windows mode, sigh

some posters said to just cancel out of the popup re xcrun.

doing that I get this error message:

Compilation error: 'STATUS_LED_PIN' was not declared in this scope"

this is the first time I tried compiling, and am using the latest IDE...I'm going to try running things under windows...btw, I was able to successfully run one of the sample programs, so the xcrun error may not be significant...

ahh, I tried loading the sketch instead of copy and paste , and it compiled fine. rtc library loaded ok too, I think, But when I upload the program to the nano, the serial monitor does not show anything other than the text "cnc shield v4 clock movement rev 1.05"; it does not display the info you show in your documentation e.g., speed, steps, etc
