The prototype clock is finished and I just posted pictures earlier today at https://www.stevesclocks.com/forum/wood-gear-clocks/wooden-desk-clock There is still a lot of finalization before I would feel comfortable publishing the design for others to build. I do think it runs a LOT better than the 3D printed version.
The bamboo was supplied by a local woodworking store that sponsored the project. They must have bought a bunch of excess inventory really cheap, because they had a truck-load of pre-finished shapes that we broke apart for the projects.
It cut nicely and has a uniform grain pattern. It is probably easiest to find bamboo as cutting boards or flooring after it gets prepared into flat sheets.
