My latest Crazy Gear - Medium

I have printed over 10 of the Crazy Gear clocks, each one a little different. The latest one turned out to be the best yet.

I have modified the original design to add a front plate that can be customized, and I often customize the face of the clock. I also combined the front and back frames into a single piece and added a brace at the top which uses a 3mm threaded rod to connect them. I have two Rat Rig printers which allow up to a 500mm build plate.

Steve has been a great help in assisting with ideas and helping me with the mods.

I strongly suggest purchasing the kits from him, it makes the assembly so much easier.

I printed this one for one of my Nurse Practitioner who wanted it for her two sons.

The Moon Phase Clock is my favorite design. I am eagerly waiting to see your customizations. The dial has a large blank canvas, and the bob can also be customized. STEP files are released for both parts. Let me know if you want any other STEP files.

Thanks Steve for the message. My first one will be an attempt at getting it put together and a learning experience. I'm printing the frame in brown and the gears in silver. The frame is printing on my Bambu X1C and is amazing the time difference with your listed times and the times it does, 1/2 to 1/3 the time and the parts look great. The gears are printing on the Rat Rig, which is set up much slower, but they come out great. I ordered the 623RS bearings and click pen springs from Amazon. Was not sure about the springs, so measured some from the Crazy Gear Clock and ordered the 30mm long ones. You might put a link to what you use or I'm sure you will include them in the kits if you sell those. If you sell kits, include extras, as the small parts seem to jump off the work bench and travel to alternate universes.

I'm still recovering from my treatments, so moving slow but hope to start assembly Monday or Tuesday.

I just purchased an MK4 and was amazed at the 2.5X increase in printing speed, so I upgraded my two MK3S's to MK3.5's with about a 2X speed increase. I don't know if I will continue listing the print times. The amount of filament used is a good enough indicator of the approximate size and complexity of each part.

All clocks are designed to work with springs from common ball point pens. The nominal pen spring size is around 0.4x4x25mm (0.4mm wire diameter, 4mm outside diameter, and 25mm overall length). Anything close to this size will usually work. The primary criteria are they must fit over a 3mm arbor on some of the clocks. The maximum outer diameter is around 5mm. The Moon Phase Clock parts kits have 0.5x5x25mm springs for the friction clutches and 0.3x4x25mm for the ratchet. This gives a bit more strength for the friction clutches and makes the ratchet quieter compared to standard pen springs.
